  • Save the Children Ukraine appeal

    Wed 30 Mar 2022

A big thank you to everyone who donated to the Ukraine appeal at Pontrhondda Primary School.

The total amount raised was £224.55.

The money raised helped the school purchase therapeutic resources for the families of Ukraine as part of the Save The Children Ukraine Appeal.

Gabrielle a finalist in the Miss Wales 2022 competition also visited Pontrhondda to collect the resources as part of her charity work.

Without your help this would not have been possible.

    Well Done Pontrhondda Primary School!

    Dear Parents / Guardians,

It is almost time for our annual Easter Bonnet / Hat Parade!!!  Because of Covid, we haven’t been able to enjoy this well-loved event but thankfully it’s back!!  So, on the morning of Thursday April 7th, 2022, the Foundation Phase will be wearing their Easter bonnets / hats and will be walking around our local area.  Our route will take us through Pontrhondda Road, up onto the main road, down to Partridge Square and through Sherwood back to school.  If you see us please give us a big clap and a wave!!!!

Therefore, homework for the next 2 weeks will be to create an Easter bonnet / hat with your child.  Please bring them into school by Wednesday April 6th, 2022.

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

    Red Nose Day 18/03/2022

Thanks so much for putting Red Nose Day 2022 in your diary. We’re over the moon that you’re joining in the fun.

Red Noses will be on sale at Pontrhondda Primary School for £1.50 and can be purchased from tomorrow onwards.

Children can take them home or we are more than happy to keep them safe at school until Red Nose Day.

If you’d like to know a bit more about Red Nose Day and why it’s so brilliant that you’re taking part, here are a few quick facts.

    What is Red Nose Day?
    •    Red Nose Day is a fundraising event run by Comic Relief.
    •    Comic Relief is a UK charity which aims to create a just world free from poverty.
    •    The money raised is used to transform lives in the UK and around the world.

    Why we’re taking part
    •    Pupils learn valuable life skills and gain understanding and empathy for others in the world.
    •    It’s a great way to get together for a giggle.
    •    Our school can really make a difference to people’s lives.

    Where the money goes
    •    £5 could provide school stationery to a child living in poverty in South Africa.
    •    £10 could get 40 meals to children and families in need in the UK.
    •    £50 could buy a bike for a health visitor in Ghana so they can provide vital health care for hard-to-reach families.

Whatever you decide to do, we can’t thank you enough for getting involved. After all, we couldn’t do it without wonderful people like you.

    Thank you
