Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parent,
We will be holding our St. David’s Day celebrations on Monday March 1st. Celebrations will be a little different this year, as we are not able to take in any home tasks. We will however be completing Welsh activities in classes at school or at home through Seesaw.
We would love to see the children in traditional Welsh costumes, Welsh sportswear or just wearing red on Monday, if at home, please upload photos.
We will also be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 5th February, please see letter from Mrs Dando below!
Dear Parent/Carers,
As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, our school will be celebrating WORLD BOOK day on Friday March 5th 2021.
On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as his / her favourite story book character. It would be good to discuss with your child different characters from their favourite books. The dressing up possibilities are endless: Postman Pat, Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Danny- Champion of the World, Matilda, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Twits, Cinderella, Gruffalo, Elmer the Elephant, Three little Pigs, Harry Potter, etc
During the day there will be lots of fun activities taking place within classes and through Seesaw for those at home.
Reading different books every evening, in preparation would be great! So, get thinking and reading! We look forward to seeing your child dressed up for this special day on Friday March 5th. If at home, don’t forget to upload photos on Seesaw.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Have fun!!
Mrs Dando

Schools will remain closed to all pupils and home learning will be provided. If you meet the critical worker criteria and have no other childcare, please email: Head.pontrhonddaprimary@rctcbc.gov.uk to apply for the week 18th-22nd January. (Applications close 4pm Monday 11th January.)
Dear parents/carers
I hope you have had a good Christmas and New Year and that you and your loved ones have managed to stay safe and healthy.
As you are aware, from the letter sent out by the Director of Education for RCT, school will have a compulsory closure on the 4th and 5th and will move to online learning for the 6th – 8th January for all children. We will continue to run our online learning through Seesaw.
School will be making ‘Emergency Hub’ provision for a small number of vulnerable children, and parents will be contacted Tuesday.
Provision will also be available for high priority key worker children:
• Blue light workers, including NHS, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service staff;
• Social care workers (including care homes); and
• Childcare or education staff.
Please only apply for this provision if you clearly meet eligibility, are scheduled to work and have exhausted all possible childcare avenues.
This provision will be for core school hours, including breakfast club provision, 8:10am - 3:10pm and children will access the same online learning as children engaging with learning at home.
If you meet all the above criteria and would like to apply, please send an email before 4pm Monday 4th January to head.pontrhonddaprimary@rctcbc.gov.uk detailing the name of your child/children and exactly when the provision would be needed. If you have have any queries at all that you would like to discuss, then please get in touch via email, the website or phone.
I am sorry for the continued disruption, and once again, thank you for being so supportive of our school community.
Please stay safe and take good care of yourselves.
Mrs. A. James
